Meet Deborah Wilder, Ph.D.

Throughout my many years of professional experience and training and my own personal life experiences, I have understood what many individuals, couples and families go through during hard times. My own experience with divorce has created a great desire and a passion to help both men and women and their children deal with and heal from their own struggles. I am a strong advocate of marriage, and I believe that, if it is possible to have a healthy and happy relationship, then I will help couples work through their issues.

On the other hand, if divorce seems to be the most reasonable or unavoidable decision, then I will help the spouses (individually or together) work through this process.

My Story

As someone who was once married, I understand the joy, peace and security of being in a special relationship. I also understand the pain of not being able to work through the issues that can tear a relationship apart.

As a single parent, I understand the fear and uncertainty that keep you up at night. I understand the emotional, mental and financial toll that divorce can take on all members of the family. I also know how to make it through the hard times and help others through those tough and challenging times and come out stronger with hope in the present and for the future.

Why I Can Help You
I am a licensed psychologist, marriage therapist, parenting coordinator, divorce consultant and divorce mediator with 35+ years of experience working with individuals, couples and families in crisis. My professional experiences include working in a number of clinical settings such as a private residential psychiatric facility for children and adolescents, a family and children’s services center, a college counseling center, a county mental health center and in a Veterans Administration Medical Center, where I specialized in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Behavioral Medicine. I had the honor and privilege of working individually and in groups with veterans from the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and Desert Storm. I have been in private practice since 1994, and I have been privileged to have helped hundreds of people work through their issues and learn to make their lives happier and easier.

I am a member of the American Psychological Association and the Georgia Psychological Association, and I am a registered civil and divorce mediator with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution. I have served on the Board of Directors of Visions Anew, a non-profit organization that helped people going through divorce find a new vision for their lives, and I am the Founder of the Center for Therapy and Mediation.
